Just a shame there's not more new materialBy Gray2 (220 reviews) , 30 Jan 2013
[Highly rated reviewer]I do love Mrs Brown. She only has to do her characteristic laugh and I'm laughing too. I've seen both TV series and feel I know the characters; and this live show (from Dublin), made into a movie, shows them at their very best. I can't imagine anyone choosing to watch this if they didn't know them already - which brings me to the reason I give 4 stars not 5. So many of the jokes, and large chunks of dialogue, are lifted straight from the TV series; so most viewers will know what's coming. Whole scenes like the counselling session, granddad sitting down with a needle up his a*se, the visit by the Mormons, and the 'resurrection' scene with the Father Quinn song, are also repeated from the TV series. Yes they're still funny, but for the next live show (evidently due at the O2 in London in December 2013) Brendan O'Carroll does really need to think up some new material. I also fail to understand why some of the actors (notably Rory the gay son) can't control their own laughter - after all, they've heard these lines even more times than we have! Incidentally, the DVD sleeve claims the live show is 'ruder and cruder' than the TV show; I saw no evidence of this at all.

still laughingBy suzique (2 reviews) , 13 Jul 2013i love Mrs Brown, I thought that the live show was just as funny as the series, I love the way she makes the rest of the cast laugh and even though it combined most stories from the series it' still so funny-even Grandad gets to speak , Rory couldn't speak most of the time as he's helpless laughing. Mrs Brown is just so much fun.
Nothing on the TV seriesBy Criddler (5 reviews) , 12 Jun 2013Love the TV series, can watch over and over. But this is poor in comparison. Very predictable and with it being in a much larger theatre compared to the intimate TV studio there is no subtlety. Barely laughed throughout.
funny showBy welshnanny71 (1 review) , 29 May 2013Unfortunately a lot of the material used in the previously shown series was in this dvd. As funny as it was, I wish there was never seen before material used. Still very funny though.

BOYS FROM THE BROWN STUFFBy a customer , 08 Apr 2013Unfortunately,most of the show used previous material, or variations of, from the TV series. And that, along with having to turn a very funny 30 minute show into a 3 hour live show, the problem here is that a lot of it feels forced. Whilst still entertaining, it's not to the standard of the TVshow and it fails because of the above. Humorous but not hilarious. Entertaining but not a 'must see'.
