Danish for excellentBy Davron (92 reviews) from Exeter , 09 Feb 2013
[Highly rated reviewer]What can be so compelling about a sub-titled Danish series? For me it's the unexpected way that politics and ethics hang in the balance during each episode- coupled with outstanding performances from characters you care about. If you have not previously been convinced to watch Scandinavian TV then give this a try, no question about 5 stars.

Drama at its very bestBy Bridman (28 reviews) from Bridlington , 07 Oct 2013Without a shadow of doubt this is the best TV drama that we have ever seen. So well written and superbly acted. We have come to love all the main characters. The use of subtitles in no way spoils the entertainment. Why cannot the BBC live up to the quality of this production.
Best of DanishBy a customer , 06 Sep 2013From the first episode I was hooked and you will be too. All the characters are interesting, the story compelling and intriguing and Brigitte is fantastic. I loved this Danish drama and looking forward to Series 3!
Even better than LurpacBy a customer , 23 May 2013Birgitte Nyborg is prime minister, woman, mother, a politician, cyclist, liberal, pragmatist, and many other things besides. She is also one of the many interesting yet realistic characters inhabiting a little part of Copenhagen known as Borgen. Think The Thick of It with less shouting.
Great SeriesBy a customer , 17 Apr 2013Not a great fan of previous Scandinavian drama I watched the first episode with some skepticism, but I was soon convinced. Really intense plot, great writing and a good cast. It seems to give a real, but entertaining, insight into the pressures and difficulties confronting modern politicians. Highly recommended.
Black soap/Danish 'Noir'By a customer , 05 Apr 2013Borgen is the most intelligent political soap opera on TV. It manages to deal with subjects and content that is shaping the society we live in. Despite tight sets and a limited cast Borgen gives us an expanded view of the very human dilemma of being a leader of a liberal political party and forming a government. It provides an insiders view of the craft of politics whilst highlighting the difficulty in maintaining the ideals, integrity and promises the politician must appear to keep whilst being head of state. The fact that it is wonderful entertainment is due to excellent script writing and the acting skills of an amazing cast. I watched the Blue ray DVDs of series 2 in 3 long sessions and would have watched more if it was available. Looking forward to Series 3!
