He is still alive then - well on DVD anyway.By a customer from Worthing, England , 22 Mar 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]I am going to be 50 years old this year, so I arrived too late to really get into the Elvis thing. Anyway he was singing songs that my Mum and Dad quite liked, and we didn't agree on anything. I myself was more 60's Brit Pop including the Beatles, who are still the very, very best of all time. There are probably about half a dozen Elvis songs that I really like, and last year I went to see 'That's the way it is', the fly on the wall footage of Elvis and his Las Vegas concert. This came across very well in surround sound cinema, so I thought I would give 'Aloha' a spin on my DVD. It is bit dated, obviously, but somewhere between 1970 and 1973 he has lost a lot of stage presence that was evident in the Vegas show. My tip - if you want to see the 'King' really perform rent 'That's the way it was', which will get 5 stars from me when I rent it out.

Disck One, 70's broadcast qualityBy The Somerset Elvis from Somerset , 14 Oct 2007The dvd is produced by the Elvis estate and it is a shame that they have done little to enhance the footage. If you like Elvis at all it is worth a look but leave it for a rainy day when you have nothing to do. Program one is footage of his arrival in Hawaii. You mostly see the crowd before the chopper touches down. There is no commentary and the crowd just stand there patiently waiting which is a shame as they could have added commentary or music to make it a bit more interesting. You might as well stick pins in your eyes for more fun. (Do not try this however as it may damage your eye sight - no really! - not to mention the pain.) Program two is the practice concert in front of a full crowd. There are quite a few cover versions which is a shame. Program three is the concert and almost a repeat of the practice concert. As I said - wait for a rainy day.
ExcellentBy a customer from norwich England , 13 Sep 2007The sound quality was very good and the quality overall was excellent. I enjoyed the dvd very much and would reccommend this to any fan of Elvis.
The Return Of The KingBy Steve Resin from Neath, South Wales , 09 Sep 2007Most people find the King's 70's jumpsuit era laughable, and admittedly he was a shadow of his former self at the end of his life. Here though he is superb, his voice is impeccable and he's obviously having a good time, cracking jokes and having some fun. There's some fantastic renditions of his greatest songs, and he breathes new life into the Beatles' 'Something' too. Brilliant.
A Crowning Moment.By Andreas Williamson from Newcastle upon Tyne, England , 23 Apr 2007Elvis lost a few pounds and was clean as he had ever been for this TV special - the first of it's kind and a challenge he met head on. The concentration was put upon 'the voice' therefore stage moves were limited. And what a voice! 'American Trilogy' is performed with such passion with Elvis at one point shouting at the band near song's end. There are a couple of fun songs in 'Steamroller Blues' and 'Fever' as well as great rockers like 'Burning Love', 'Johnny B. Goode' and 'A Big Hunk O' Love'.
If anyone wants to witness a master of his art honing his craft to perfection then 'Aloha' is a must-see!
not the best elvisBy lee weild from Lancing, sussex , 23 Mar 2007I have to agree with the 1st reviewer, this performance is not great by the King, watching Elvis on stage, you can see that this is a man way passed his best...and at times its sad to watch, he's obviously on some sort of cocktail of drugs,as he swaggers about the stage, saying very little between each song...your definately better of renting 'Thats the way it is'
