superb seriesBy a customer from gwaenysgor, rhyl, flintshire , 25 Aug 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]the walking with beasts series is awesome. my children were captivated by the beasts that were (via computer graphics technology) moving across the television screen, in their natural habitat.
if you love dinosaurs, or want to know more about the animals that roamed the earth millions of years ago, then this is the dvd disc set for you.
kenneth branagh is superb as the narrator.
and my 4 children were so engrossed in watching this series that it was very quiet in my house for a change!

Walking With Beasts - Fantastic!By LoonyTunes (15 reviews) from Cardiff , 04 Mar 2010
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideEpisodes: New Dawn, Whale Killer, Land Of Giants, Next Of Kin, Sabre Tooth, Mammoth Journey. In these episodes we see the evolution of Mammals in all the spectacularly gory CGI details! Kenneth Branagh is a wonderful narrator (maybe not to everyone's tastes) but he does bring the whole thing to life, sort of like a David Attenborough wannabe! It is amazing to see all these animals brought to life like the Mammoths, the Smilodons and the other Sabre Tooth cats, plus of course, the Terror Birds - Gastornis and Phorrusrachos, (hope I've spelt that right!) which are beautiful to watch and quite scary. This DVD compares very favourably with other DVDs of this type and should be watched for the thrill of the chase or just out of curiousity.
OKBy princeofcats (4 reviews) from Hertfordshire , 25 Aug 2009I wanted to watch this when it was on the TV ages ago, but missed it, years later i decided to rent it.
It was good, but dated, didn't watch it all.
Walking with beastsBy KHRANDRASS (163 reviews) from Cheadle , 08 Feb 2009The demise of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago,did not leave the worlld empty.A sucession of extraordinary creatures has since come and gone, leading to our own ancestors, and yet we know virtually nothing about them. These bizarre beasts were some of the most facinating creatures ever to have inhabited our planet.
Walking with beasts takes you on a journey through time to distant worlds: from the hottest, wettest climate the earth has ever known to one of the coldest- the ice age.See the early forerunners of the whale(walking!),avoid the carnivorous pig the size of a rhino, and pity the horse the size of a cat, eaten by a bird the height of a man! And we humans are not safe either- Mighty sabre-toothed cats with teeth the size of carving knives have a taste for our own ancestors!
This is a great series with fantastic special effects, great narration and fantastic stories which make you think that you are really there!
Good but can't get five starsBy a customer from Tadley , 09 Mar 2008The programme was great and gave a real insight into what the lives of prehistoric creatures might have been. However the attempts to use papier maché masks to show the animals does not work and the narrator is constantly dashing any hope there is of the animals living. However despite this it remains another great production by the BBC.
