[Highly rated reviewer]A musical level so high it could not be improved upon, a lovely cast... and an utterly dreary dismal set.. This is such an important part of the whole, that unfortunately the experience for this viewer was completely spoiled.
Seems to be showing its ageBy CatherineAnne (53 reviews) from Harrogate, Yorkshire, England , 07 Nov 2010I meant the recording not the opera. The production seemed to be too much on the garish side, or the makeup was too heavy. I checked the settings on the DVD and TV, so I know it wasn't that. Bryn does not look right with bright rosy cheeks. Unlike another reviewer, I found the scenery quite adequate, and at least it had the benefit of being easily changeable. Bryn Terfel was brilliant as usual, and without going overboard, the rest of the cast was good if a little unbending at times. The production went at the speed a good farce should go at which is what 'Le Nozze' is. Good entertainment, well worth watching and has the added benefit of Mozart's beautiful music.
