Originally made for the First Love TV series, this tangled tale of faded fame and unresolved differences is told via a series of bitterly nostalgic flashbacks. Although Nicholas Gecks is now a priest and James Aubrey a teacher, they were once part of a 1950s rock band. Their rivalry resurfaces as reunion bonhomie is replaced by competition for the attention of single-mother Karen Archer, which has a traumatic effect on her altar boy son. As you'd expect, given that Ray Connolly wrote That'll Be the Day and Stardust, the monochrome memoirs make more impact than the modern-day melodrama.

this film is a wonderfully funny and sweet film to watch. when it was first released it was good and it has only improved with age. elijah wood shows that he was one of the few good child actors and mel gibson shines as the man frozen when his love is involved in an accident and awoken fifty years later.

So I was thinking to my self what films did i used to watch in my childhood and of course this title came to mind. Of course seeing it now did not quite have the same effect as it did when i was younger. But if your looking for a easy to watch film with a love story then this is for you.

Not a bad film, a bit sad at the end though, I like films to end on a happy note. Otherwise worth watching

One thing about Mel Gibson films is that when you sit down to watch them you know you are getting something completely different and original... well except the sequels to Lethal weapon but you get my meaning.

This film is no different, it sports a single futuristic element of Mel being used as a guinea pig to be frozen in time and waking up to a whole new world. In it's genre this film is second only to "Ground Hog Day", and is best watched Saturday/Sunday afternoons with the whole family.

Truly a masterpiece in every way.
