Not THE King Boxer

I've waited WEEKS for this DVD to arrive from my reserved list and what did I get? Not the kung-fu classic I was expecting, but some absolute drivel. I first saw King Boxer (note the missing The) in the 70's in a double feature with Hap Ki Do (they used to show 2 films back then). The story revolved round a chinese boxer who is sent to a martial arts school to learn the Iron Hands technique. However he is waylaid by thugs from a rival school who smash his hands to pulp to stop him entering a martial art tournament. Of course he recovers and beats his opponent.
This movie is has the same (usual) theme of two rival martial art schools fighting one another with the usual Chinese `humour` and slapstick thrown in. The story line is abysmal and the staged kung fu fights are amateurish to say the least. Not for die-hard kung-fu fans. Avoid.
