Brief synopsis of Shield, The - Series 2

Shawn Ryan, a regular writer for "Angel" and other programmes, created this crime drama to challenge the mores of televised entertainment and to provide a heightened reality with increasingly complicated moral questions. Michael Chiklis stars as Vic Mackey, perhaps television's most unpopular, no-nonsense detective, and leader of the elite Strike Team unit. The entire second season (13 episodes) of the acclaimed show is presented here.

Rated - 5 starsSimply Stunning

A customer from Brighton, England , 01/08/2004

Whilst the first series of The Shield was highly enjoyable and brilliantly made, this is where the word 'masterpiece' comes into play. This series ranks proudly alongside the very best of Six Feet Under and The Sopranos. With pitch perfect acting, wonderfully inventive direction, and skilfull screenwriting that can rank calmly alongside the true greats, this is rich evidence of a show gleefully coming into its own. The entire series is driven by a deeply compelling sub-plot about the possible robbery of a large ring of Armenian drug runners, and the relentless drama never lets up for a single second. Wonderful, superlative television. Don't miss!

Rated - 5 starsFuture TV classic

The Shield is one of the best TV shows to have emerged in the last few years. It is based around an experimental police dept in LA. The cops seem to act above the law and are sometimes worse than the criminals.

At first the show seems simplistic but in actuality is very complex and explores the relationships of all the officers. The programme can be very brutal but every episode had me on the edge of my seat.

Rated - 5 starsBest US crime drama!

Birdman from England [Highly rated reviewer] , 22/12/2004

The Shield absolutely destroys all it's competition in this market, fantastically entertaining, extraordinarily gripping, and addictively watchable! You must check it out!

Chicklis play Vic Mackey, team leader of the Farmington 'Strike Team' keeping law and order on the street, in their own unique manner. Mackey is the ultimate TV anti-hero; is he good or bad? You choose, you'll have a hell of a time deciding!
