Brief synopsis of Psycho 4: The Beginning
If you have ever wondered what really happened to Norman's mother, PSYCHO IV gives you the opportunity to discover the truth! We can now have a grisly insight into how young Norman (Henry Thomas) came to commit the ultimate crime - matricide. But the film doesn't stop there - it also brings us bang up to date with Norman apparently plotting yet another horrifying murder.

Radio Times
The Norman Bates saga came to an end in this sorry made-for-TV finale. It's a shame because the plot at least offers up an intriguing twist: as the now rehabilitated Norman (Anthony Perkins, again excellent) discusses his fears over a radio phone-in, we flash back to the young Norman (played here by ET's Henry Thomas) and his troubled relationship with his mother. However, this promising idea is sloppily executed, while the climax is just plain silly.
