Come September on DVD (1961)
RelatedCritics ReviewsWhen wealthy American businessman Rock Hudson visits his Italian villa in July, instead of September as usual, he discovers it is being run as a hotel in his absence. His major-domo (Walter Slezak), glamorous Gina Lollobrigida and young newlyweds Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee (just married in real life, too) become involved in the comic confusions that follow. Directed with appropriate insouciance by Robert Mulligan and played with easy charm by Hudson, who had proved his comedy credentials in Pillow Talk, the result is an inconsequential but amusing movie that is typical of the style and approach of early 1960s Hollywood. Halliwell's Film Guide Clumsy sex farce with lush trimmings and generation gap asides; effort more noticeable than achievement. Members ReviewsReviews Voted Most HelpfulMost Recent Reviews |
