Rating of 1 stars out of 5 Radio Times

Stand by Me meets Deliverance was probably the unlikely pitch for this truly awful buddy comedy from Little Nicky director Steven Brill. After the death of a childhood friend, Matthew Lillard, Seth Green and Dax Shepard embark on a whitewater rafting adventure in his memory, only to be pursued by insane backwoodsmen. The trio are a thoroughly unappealing and boorish lot — a pity since both Lillard and Green have been likeable in other movies — but the fault isn't entirely theirs. Jay Leggett and Mitch Rouse's asinine screenplay manages the impressive feat of being both irritating and tedious simultaneously, and then seasons the tasteless mix with persistent, casual homophobia. It's lazily topped off with a nauseating “lesson” about the joys of simply being alive. With tripe like this in the cinemas, you might find yourself questioning the truth of that particular homily.

Halliwell's Film Guide

Weak and witless comedy about thirty-somethings behaving like the hapless adolescents they still are; they even forgot to pack a script for their journey.

If you enjoyed Road Trip then this one is definatley up your street. Starring Seth Green from Austin Powers, Matthew Lilliard from Scream & Dax Shephard this film is totally out of this world from start to finish. Definatley recommended to all comedy fans.

Rated - 3 starsWon't win any Oscars but very funny. Recommended.

A customer from Eastleigh, England , 26/04/2005

The RadioTimes review above panned this film ... someone must have really upset him/her that day! OK, OK admittedly it'll never get an Oscar nomination for best picture but it does what it sets out to do and makes you laugh ... a lot. It's a perfect antidote to a bad day at work when you want to chill out and watch something daft that won't tackle the brain cells (errrr at all). To be honest I didn't really expect too much from this film but it was better and a lot funnier than I expected (much, much more so than Anchorman) ... and as for the 'homophobia' that the RadioTimes critic referred to, well I'm gay and still laughed out loud. Go rent it.

Rated - 2 starsSome funny moments, but boring!!!!

A customer from Orpington, Kent , 15/09/2005

I was looking forward to this film, i WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED.

The only funny bit was the bear scene near the beginning, I actually fell asleep. the film went down hill when they met the girls in the tree. Trying to be an american pie/road trip type movie it fails on all counts it goes nowhere and to be honest very boring.

There are better comedies out there. I have given it two stars for the bear scene because that was very funny.

Rated - 4 starsGood fun easy watch tail of circumstance

Not sure why soooo many people have disliked this movie. I and my wife found it really good fun. It was original and had some great gags. It was a bit like a grown up 'Goonies'. I would recommend it.
