In the late 1960s, Carlito Brigante (Hernandez) emerges as the heroin czar of Harlem.

Absolute garbage, not a patch on the classic original. The fact it came out straight to video speaks volumes.

As a tv movie this works. Perhaps the idea of using the Carlito Brigante character to sell it is what ultimately lets it down. As a fan of the original I see it as an insult to the viewers that they tried to associate this in any way to the original. It is this that stopped me from giving it 3 stars. Don't think of it as a prequel to Carlito's way and you might just enjoy it. Whether you'll remember it in 6 months time is another story. I'm pretty sure I won't.

Never reviewed a movie on this site until now. What a shameless attempt to cash in the movie Carlitos Way. The poorest movie of this genre since mickey blue eyes. Rubbish.

A good gangster movie,a must if you are into this type of movie. This movie has good characters and plot. The only problem is that it doesn't actually lead into the story of the original 'Carlito's Way', in that it ends in a different way to the original begins. Never the less a good movie with plenty of gangster business!
