Director Larry Cohen's sequel to his own cult classic It's Alive doesn't quite hit the same subversive targets, but as a gory action thriller it certainly delivers. Frederic Forrest and Kathleen Lloyd are the expectant parents who get a shock when their offspring turns out to be a fanged and clawed mutant. The mayhem takes an even weirder turn when the infant joins up with two other pint-sized, baby-faced killers to wreak murderous havoc after their hide-out is discovered. Hardly subtle, but played with a winning conviction well above the call of duty.
