Bowdlerized version of a famous misalliance; coldly made but quite effective scene by scene, with notable performances.

This 1941 film was really a WW2 morale-booster, where the fight against Napoleon represents the British war effort (especially that of the navy). It is however very much a 'women's picture' with the gorgeous couple Larry Olivier and Vivien Leigh playing the lovers Nelson and Lady Hamilton. Nelson and Emma may have been adulterous, but in time of war with all those canons being fired from the topdeck, they were entitled to a bit of happiness.
