What a great movie!- Bewitched is my favourite movie of all the DVD's that we have rented so far!!!

it is a real feel good movie that appeals to all ages- our family could not put it down. We watched it over and over again.

I read the reviews here before I watched the movie and was thoroughly expecting a turnip...however, I wanted to know just how bad a film could be with such an excellent cast and interesting premise. The answer is - not bad at all. In fact, its surprisingly good. I think that the reviewers here are probably biased by the original series, or thinking too hard about the effect that magic could have on the world (?!), whereas I've only seen a couple of the original series and its been years since that happened. The cast of this film are perfect, Nicole Kidman shines as the lead and Will Ferrell is excellent as usual. My only complaint with the film is that the characters played by Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine aren't concentrated on enough - so at the end it leaves you with quite a few unanswered questions as to what happened with them (I put it down to over-zealous editing). But apart from that, the script is light-hearted, funny and even touching in places. This is a gentle no-brainer romantic comedy which will suit most for a quiet saturday night in with your partner. However, if you're looking for shakespeare or a film with a plausible plot I would suggest you give it a miss!

Since the film was first announced, I was eagerly looking forward to this film, being a great fan of the original series. The announcement of Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman as the leads made it all the more appealing. However, as more details about the plot came to light, my excitement started to wane somewhat.

To it's credit Bewitched is something of a paradigm shift away from the typical little to big screen transition. Those lovable little twits that brought us 'You've Got Mail' have delivered a film not about a witch named Samantha and her idiotic husband Darren, but something much more interesting, a film about a remake of a TV show about a witch named Samantha.

Now the really hilarious thing about this is that the actress playing Samantha is really a witch who wiggles her nose and has an extended family that's almost identical to the family on the original TV show, Huzza!!!! You may wonder how this strange coincidence could be handled gracefully. My answer is, I don't know, and by the way that's the directors answer too.

The only real saving grace of this film is Will Ferrell who uses his large rle to its fullest bringing the crazyness factor up to 10 as he tries to upstage 'Samantha'. Michael Caine also delivers a memeorable role as 'Samanthas' father and Steve Carrell gives a hilarious, if somewhat forced in, cameo as Uncle Arthur.

Another strange thing is that the witch seems to be free to rewind time whenever she messes things up. I've always wondered when I've seen this in movies, what happens to the other 6 billion people, wouldn't there be some sort of butterfly effect? Makes you think she's sort of a selfish bitch. I wish I had that power so I could get back the 100 minutes I wasted on this garbage.

Fans of the original Bewitched, be prepared to have all the things that made the original so great ripped away for yet another commercial remake of a classic show.

This is not a patch on the original TV series, which was funnier and in fact had better special effects than this remake. The main male role is appalling,like a talentless Jim Carey, at his most frenetic.The heroine, struggles, but does well thank goodness, and helps us to continue to watch to the awful end. Not funny,lousy special effects, try the original series. They had charm, humour and acting!

Two couples watched this and one couple liked it and one did not. I and my wife thought it was quite quaint and a bit humerous and better than a Sunday afternoon TV film but would have been unhappy if we had gone to the cinema to watch. Its not that magical but its good light family entertainment and Nicole Kidman was great in it. Doesn't really have much of a story and just pootles along.
