Brief synopsis of Police Story

In Jackie Chan's POLICE STORY, Kevin (Chan), a heroic cop with the Hong Kong Police Department, is assigned to guard a key witness in the trial of a mobster he single-handedly captured. But the tables are turned when Kevin is duped by the comely witness. The drug boss is then released for lack of evidence, and Kevin is framed for murder. This entertaining action film, also starring Maggie Cheung and Brigitte Lin, spawned a successful franchise and is widely considered to be one of Chan's best movies.

Jackie Chan is truly a legend and he does not let us down with his performance in Police Story. Jackie Chan indulges in some slightly unorthodox policing to ensure that he catches the big boss. Sadly his tactics earn him a demotion and the big boss is out on bail due to a technicality.

But, New Jack criminals need a New Jack cop to stop them, and it?s not long before Chan?s new assignment ? protecting the reluctant star witness ? leads him into the usual death-defying stunts involving buses, cars, lots of glass tables, and some good old fashioned kicking.

Jackie Chan really invented the concept of DVD extra features, when, from the early 1980?s, his films ended with deleted scenes while the credits rolled. He is unashamed of making mistakes, and as an actor who always plays his own stunts, he has had a fair share of accidents along the way. Police Story is all round good entertainment ? they don?t make ?em like this anymore!

If you liked Police Story, you may also like to hire [Police Story II], [Rush Hour] and [Rush Hour 2].

Rated - 5 starsPolice Glory.

This is the film that really put Jackie Chan on the international map. From the opening shanty town drive through to the shopping mall showdown at the end this is a true masterpiece of action comedy. Jackie does some incredible stunts, clinging to the side of a speeding bus, sliding down a 90 foot pole through windows and glass lights. This is a benchmark from Jackie that he constantly tried to live up to. He made this after being so disappointed with his previous American made police thriller, The Protector. He had something to prove....and prove it he did.

This is the film that really put Jackie Chan on the international map in my opinion. From the opening Shanty Town drive through to the shopping mall showdown at the end this is a true masterpiece of action comedy. Jackie does some incredible stunts, clinging to the side of a speeding double decker bus, sliding down a 90 foot pole through windows and glass lights with only his bare skinned hands to slow him down. This film provides a high standard from Jackie that he constantly tries to live up to.

Jackie felt compelled to make a police film after his previous American made thriller "The Protector" went down so badly in the USA. He felt he had something to prove about makeing good action films... and prove it he did.
