Brief synopsis of One Night In Mongkok

Mongkok, one of the most densely populated areas in the world, is the hotbed of illicit business. Lai Fu (Daneil Wu), a farm boy from Mainland China, is hired as a killer and is forced to enter into the coincidence of gangs of Mongkok. Lai Fu by chance meets a call girl from his home village, Dan (Cecilia Cheung), and saves her from the gangsters. The arrival of Lai Fu tenses the police and the triad. Under flashy neon lights, Lai Fu and Dan are rummaged around in Mongkok by police and gangsters. Who will find them first, the lawful force or the lawless one?

Hotdog

Hard on the heels of the 'Infernal Affairs' movies, here's another Hong Kong crime thriller that leaves most recent American efforts standing.

The Sun

Dark, direct and downright dangerous, this is the perfect antidote for anyone who has overdosed on Jackie Chan films.

Film Review

Worth of comparison even to the great 'Internal Affairs'.

As a fan of Orient movies for over a decade now,I can say that this film although not anywhere near the classic that many are calling it,is quite entertaining and completely original. Daniel Wu plays the most detestable character ever to appear on the screen, while Eric Tsang plays the noble and wise Triad mob boss, which makes the ending one of the most satisfying twists in Hong Kong movie history.I don't understand why some reviewers found it confusing,It's pretty simple and the subtitiles are crsip and clear to read an unlike a lot of the HK movies they stay on the screen long enough for you to read.I would suggest you see this movie as although slow and not as entertaining as many of the Cop/Triad movies out at the moment,It is still a unique insight into the mind of an individual and his inability to cope with fortune.

One of the best HK films ever made, brillant cast. Full of suspense and twists. It provokes deep thoughts about human behaviour and reflects harsh realities of modern day societies.

This is the kind of high energy you expect from Hong Kong films and they even have a decent story line. Nicely shot in the back streets of MongKok and with very good casting.
