Brief synopsis of Ethan Mao

Resorting to a life of hustling after his parents find a pornographic gay magazine in his room and kick him out, Ethan Mao quickly learns how to survive on the streets. Popular with older men craving some young Asian loving, Ethan also forges a strong bond with Remigio, an attractive pimp of sorts who gets Ethan acquainted with drugs and other illegal activities. After learning that Ethan's family is away for the holidays, the two young men go to Ethan's former home to retrieve his belongings. But what starts out as a simple mission becomes a highly complicated mental, emotional, and physical struggle when Ethan's father shows up and a hostage situation ensues.

Heart-warming story of two young gay men describing their friendship as one of the characters has to deal with family rejection in confrontational circumstances. This is a story of human relationships and love - touching, very worthwhile watching

Rated - 2 starsNot as brutal

Not quite as brutal as the trailer makes you believe. Would have been good to see the relationship between the two boys develop a little more first to see how the bond between them grew. The flash backs/dream sequences are a little confusing (I think the end's a cop out but not quite sure!) and the actress who played Ethan's stepmother is so bad in this part that she's really off-putting (the others are ok). Not a bad little movie though, with some lighter moments and mostly enjoyable, and not too long at 1 hour 30 mins.

Rated - 3 starsNot a bad movie

The lead actor who played Ethan isn't that bad as an actor, some of the camera work and lack of music in some scenes was a bit strange but all in all an interesting if a slightly depressing movie at times! Hits home a message of some teenagers being up against everything but not so sure if the outcome was that realistic due to the problems Ethan faced!
