this dvd series is superb. Veronica Mars is the only daughter of her poor Private Investigator father Keith Mars.

The series is set in the wealthy, seaside community of Neptune, where tension between the `haves' and the `have-nots' is rife.

the PCH motorcycle gang rules the highway, and the rich 09-ers, make the law bend to their will.

Veronica having had a bad sophomore year, is out cast by her friends, and the rest of the Neptune community at large, when she sides with her father over them.

Keith Mars is the former Sheriff of Neptune, but was voted out, after he went after the wrong man, for the murder of Lilly Kane, who was Veronica's best friend, and sister to her ex-boyfriend Duncan Kane. This first season deals with Veronicas investigation, of who murdered her best friend... a mystery that sees all the series regulars involved. Everyone is a suspect.

As Veronica tries to prove her ex-sheriff father's hunch, that the convicted killer is not actually the murderer, she also tackles mysteries for students at her school.

Veronica played by kristen bell, is very likeable, despite her obvious flaws. the sympathy she induces from the viewer is immense, especially when her troubled past is revealed in the Pilot episode.

The supporting characters are great, especially Jason Dohring who plays Logan Echolls - who is the `Obligatory psychotic...' as Veronica calls him; the depth of Logan's character is slowly revealed, as the season progresses, and his chemistry and unfriendly banter, with Veronica is always a scene stealer.

The relationship between Veronica and her father, is really at the heart of the show. the bond between the two of them, is only strengthened as time moves forward.

Among the other characters Veronica interacts with, is her best friend called Wallace - he is very likeable, since he`s one of the only friends, that Veronica actually has.

this series has a very film noir feel to it. The noirish lighting and subject matter, as well as the insightful voiceovers Veronica recites, in each episode, adds to the corrupt tone and inevitability, of the events that lead to the end of the season.

`A Trip to the Dentist' which deals with date rape, is one of the best ever episodes, and the season finale called `Leave it to Beaver' finally reveals the whodunit.

some really good episodes are: `Weapons of Class Destruction', `Pilot', `Silence of the Lamb', `Mars V.S Mars', `A Trip to the Dentist', `M.A.D' and `Leave it to Beaver'.

this series is well worth renting out.

Veronica Mars will have you on the edge of your seat, it is funny, with great acting, with characters to fall in love with. there are many twists and turns in this series and it always leaves you wanting more.

if you rent this box set, you won't be able to stop watching it. It is highly addictive.

The episodes are well written and you get to know all about the characters very well. the twists and turns throughout the series are some of the best on tv.

if you liked buffy the vampire slayer and charmed, you will love Veronica Mars.
