Nothing Like Donnie Darko!

I see alot of reviews comparing Stay with Donnie Darko, but the films are nothing alike, Donnie leaves you scratching your head and thinking did I enjoy that or not?, where Stay (like The Machinist) lets you know what is was all about in the last 10 mins and knowing exactly what you thought of the film. The majority of the film and the acting was great, it was the ending that disappointed me, it had so much more potential to end as cleverly as it began.

My advice is if you want a film that will baffle you but ultimatly not be that hard to understand this is for you, if you prefer a film where its all laid out on a plate and there's no surprises then maybe a Stallone film is more your cup of tea.

Get it, and enjoy!

Very, very wierd!

Great performances, best performance from Ewan McGregor since 'Trainspotting'.

However the film had a very complicated plot which will confuse lots of people. The film is not very scary either with little suspense of jumps. Excluding all of that it was quite a good film but too smart for its own good. People, who liked 'Donnie Darko' or 'The Manchinist', will most probably like this film.

Mindbending thriller? They are spot on! Dreadful!!

Don't bother watching this awful film. Another film where I wanted to be entertained, instead I was throughly confused! The film may be geared towards those who understand rocket science, who knows?

Bob Hoskins should make better choices in future. As for Ewan McGregor, his hairstylist and wardrobe mistress should be sacked! God knows who got him dressed!

Ewan admits the film wasn't entirely successful on release in america. He defends the fact audiences found it impossible to follow.

The Ending Makes It Worth the Wait!

This film confused me all the way to the end but kept me intrigued at the same time. It's a little like Donnie Darko in that my initial reaction was total bewilderment but I think if I watch it again (which I certainly will!) things will make more sense. Having said that, the ending let's you go away feeling content and then you can reflect on what a good film it actually is!

STRANGER THAN FICTION'S DARKER SIBLING

Maybe Marc Forster thought, after having finished Stay, ok- let's make this one in a lighter, more straightforward version. And then he went and delighted us with Stranger Than Fiction. Equally nuts and existentialist, this is an altogether darker, heavier and puzzling affair.

If you like your films that bit more comprehensible from the start and have a low patience threshold, choose something else. If you enjoy beautiful film making and being kept in the dark until the very end where everything unravels, this is just the ticket.

If style alone is anything to go by, Quantum Of Solace will be a total delight, for Marc Forster proves yet again his ability to give a film the cinematographic feel it needs and deserves. The film's twists, turns and huh?s are superbly reflected in angle and camera changes and the at times confusing (but necessarily so) hiccup editing.

The gorgeous Naomi Watts misses out on the comical role again,(surprise, but she does heavy so well!!!) Ewan McGregor should not do American accents (that is meant to be one, isn't it?), but is well watchable, and Ryan Gosling is perfect for his part.

All in all this is a demanding, but highly rewarding affair. Comparisons with other head screws abound, but this is very much it's own beast and as cold and clinical as it may appear, ultimately very moving. (The sort of film that makes my hubby call his parents.) Just don't expect the optimism or humour of Stranger Than Fiction.

What an awfully painful film to watch. This was the first film I have failed to watch to the end for many years! As for Ewan's trousers, well, who dressed him?
