Replicant on DVD (2001)
RelatedCritics ReviewsJean-Claude Van Damme gets a dual role, again, as serial killer and his confused clone in this otherwise perfunctory thriller. While it has the makings of a departure for the Muscles from Brussels, with his sympathetic, naive good guy used and abused by both his villainous brother and grizzled cop Michael Rooker, his Rain Man-style awkwardness sits uncomfortably with his kick-boxing prowess (learned through a gymnastics video). Ringo Lam, who teamed with Van Damme on the equally forgettable Maximum Risk, puts his stunt men through some punishing set pieces, and if you can overlook some massive logic leaps — like how the cloned Jean-Claude has memories of murders, but not of life experiences — this is a passable action workout. Variety "...The pic charges ahead with confidence....Van Damme anchors the proceedings with sufficient aplomb..." Members ReviewsReviews Voted Most HelpfulMost Recent Reviews |
