Brief synopsis of Original Twilight Zone, The - Season 4

Enter the fifth dimension with THE TWILIGHT ZONE, explore the depths of the unknown in Season Four of Rod Serling's groundbreaking series. Funny at times, heartbreaking at others, THE TWILIGHT ZONE entertained audiences for years (and inspired many remakes and spin-offs) with its consistently compelling and thought-provoking plotlines. Serling appears at the start and finish of each episode, acting as the viewer's guide through a world of alternate realities, and unlocking a door to a place where anything can happen.

In this latest season the episode stories are more drawn out over 45 minutes long and the si-fi technology is more noticably 1960s era with knobs and counters with added flashing lights and fog for effects , I personaly would not keep these as a collection, but would keep the shorter less noticable earlier episodes instead.......LEE

Rated - 4 starsThe season Twilight Zone grew up

itstinks , 11/06/2007

I've been enjoying catching up with this series and although its amazing how well they have lasted, there was a certain amount of muchness towards the end of series 3, however seeing the 1st disc of series 4 has been a real bolt. The stories are longer and therefore have more time to develop the characters and the stronger themes. In his own image covers what is identity, 30 Fathom is actually quite spooky and stays in the mind, The Valley covers one of the fundamental flaws in the world and in its way could have been seen as quite un-american and He's Alive is a bit of a polemic but has a strong performance from a young Dennis Hopper. I am now really looking forward to the rest of this seasons discs.

Rated - 1 starsLonger isn't always better

A customer from Nottingham, England , 06/09/2007

The change to 50 minutes from 30 should've made this series of Twilight Zone better with more time to build up interesting stories and characters. Instead, the creators, obviously not used to the longer format, fill in the space with long drawn out looks and lots of camera shots into nothing. There is no character development, the stories and scripts have not improved and the feeling when watching these episodes is that it is all just too long.

The increase in length does not mean an increase in quality unfortunately.

Expanded from 25 to 40 minutes but still enjoyable and watchable with some of best stories of the whole programme.
