Brief synopsis of Sex Traffic

The story of two young Moldovan sisters, kidnapped and trafficked through Romania, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Italy to the dark side of London, betrayed by pimps and police, and fighting for their lives. The reverberations of their story are explosive, exposing far-reaching corruption that implicates big business in America and international peacekeeping forces in Europe alike.

I saw this when it appeared on TV and was totally absorbed by it. In fact, I still can remember some parts vividly. It's a excellent, gritty portrayal of how innocent girls become trapped in a sordid and dangerous life as prostitutes. John Simm is one of my favourite actors and has been ever since I saw him in another TV drama set in the Lake District. Now, of course, he's well known for the excellent TV series 'Life on Mars'. Here, he gives another superb performance but the highest accolade must go to the main female lead, Anamaria Marinca, who won an award , I think, for her portrayal of one of the kidnapped sisters. This is no comfortable story. It is upsetting, disturbing and very realistic. You'll remember it long after you've seen it and that, to me, says quality drama.

At times, painfully slow moving, but otherwise an excellent, thought-provoking piece of work .. Great locations of Boston, Canada, Eastern Europe and of course London .. John Simm, as ever, gives a class performance ..

Rated - 5 starsLong but stay with it!

Engrossing, moving and original and, at 3 hours long, the director made no compromise on plot to trim it down to a more accessible length; something that allows the story to develop at a more natural pace, making it impossible to avoid feeling drawn in by the tragic events

Absolutely brilliant film. Rough and a bit violent but it is a must see, kept me in front of the telly from the beginning to the end, made me cry and laugh. Brilliant

This movie is 3 hours long and consequently the last half of it became a real chore. It wasn't particularly hard hitting or shocking and too political for my liking.
