Brief synopsis of Shooters

Set in Liverpool, this film by Dan Reed uses a cast of non-actors and semi-improvised scenes in an attempt to accurately portray the murky world of UK gangsters, with shockingly realistic results.

This was originally going to be a documentary by Dan Reed. He tried to get locals to talk about a notorious gangland murder a few years back. Understandably it was hard to get anyone to talk about it so he decided on going for a drama using real people instead of actors. It was shown on C4. Highly recommended - Worth watching the 'making of' mini-doc too. It even has subtitles in English if you can't understand the accents!

Wonderful film, built around improvised performances by non actors. The natural and believable performances made compelling viewing.

Reminiscent of Ken Loach's best work.

Well done Dan Reed.

There needs to be more direction like this.

Dan Reed has done a superb job in casting and getting these so called un-known so called actors to do what they do best.

If you know characters like this then you will see that this film portrays the harsh reality of inner city gang warfare on a level that is real.

I like this because it was simple and real.
