RelatedCritics ReviewsDavid Duchovny didn't go for the easy option when accepting his first post-X Files big-screen role, and despite his OK performance the movie itself is only a qualified success. Playing against type, Duchovny stars as a disgraced surgeon with a drug habit who becomes unofficial physician to slimy mobster Timothy Hutton and his gang. As he tries to wriggle out of the job, he finds himself caught between the FBI and the increasingly paranoid gangster. Both Hutton and Peter Stormare as an underworld rival are flamboyantly over the top, while Angelina Jolie supplies the glamour. The plot is ridiculously far-fetched while the direction from British TV's Andy Wilson is slick but a touch erratic.
