The only reason to watch this movie is if your in a group and getting drunk, otherwise don't bother. Its a badly made italian rip-off that will waste 90 odd minutes of your life. Bad script, worse direction and terrible acting. If you want to watch a vietnam movie watch the greats: Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Platoon etc. If you want a dodgy italian movie then ones by Fulci or Lenzi should do the trick. Don't avoid this like the plague - just avoid

Rated - 5 starsVietnam- Italian style!

The Italian director Antonio Margheriti made a bunch of Action/War films in the later period of his career and The Last Hunter is the probably the pick of the bunch. As long as you don?t settle down expecting to see another Apocalypse Now or Platoon you won?t be disappointed. An Italian B-grade classic! Other Margheriti action flicks of note include Indio 2 (with Marvellous Marvin Hagler!), Codename: Wildgeese and Commando Leopard

I was pleasantly surprised with this film. I was curious to see this one time banned Vietnam war film, half expecting another mindless gorefest with no story. It was interesting to see that this film not only takes itself quite seriously, but it also tries to remain in the realms of realism. This is no classic and would never hold its own with the likes of Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, The Deer Hunter of Apocalypse Now, but it is easily as good as Hamburger Hill. Some of the bloodletting is over the top, and I am sure this DVD release is still a cut version of the original, but this is far from the splatter trash I was expecting.

Didnt seem as good as I remembered it from VHS days. Emphasis more on the gore than the story. Poor acting from most except the main players
