Brief synopsis of Let's Go To Prison

Career criminal and total loser John Lyshitski (Dax Shepard) has figured out the best way to get revenge on the judge who sent him to jail: watch the official's obnoxious son, Nelson Biederman IV (Will Arnett) survive some time inside. When Nelson is wrongly convicted and sent to prison, John happily gets sent back with him to become his cellmate and ensure his new buddy gets the "full treatment". Let the games begin!

I was hoping that Will Arnett would bring some of his 'Arrested Development' form into this film, but it wasn't to be. Instead Arnett & Shepard go through the motions of an all to predictable attempt at a comedy movie.

Comedy has become more intelligent over the last couple of years and movies like this are a dying breed in an arena that only the classics such as 'Airplane!' will survive. There are possibly one or two moments where you will laugh out loud, but the rest of the time will be spent watching one sub-standard joke after another. You will know why they are meant to be funny but you won't laugh because it's all too obvious.

There are plenty of other, much better, comedies for you to rent, so unless you are really desperate I'd give this one a miss.

This film is absolutely hilarious. People may recognise Dax as the prankster from punked, but his performance in this movie is priceless. He plays his bitter character excellently. This movies has a really dry sense of humour so may not be for everyone. But those of you who like sarcastic movies that can be quite gross, you will love it.

Rated - 5 starsAwesomo for a light hearted watch :D

Peter Langdown from canterbury UK , 22/06/2007

This film reminded me, especially in the light of the hoard of trilogy films in the cinema of summer 2007, that there are a lack of original films out there and no one is paying to them when there are realised.

A dark comedy of a man and his futile life wasted away in prison he finds a point to life with that of the son of the deceased judge whos sentanced this man to waste his life away behind bars. Determined to seek revenge his plans fall flat on his face when it all goes rather pete tong.

A great watch, of course americanised so therefore a happy ending. Great for a light hearted watch if your want a giggle at the madness of prison life - love it :)

Thought this film was pretty funny from start to finish, especially the way Dax Shepards character started of being the popular one and ended up being something different by the end.
