Brief synopsis of Twenty Thousand Streets Under The Sky - HD DVD Version

This is a story of unrequited love, passion, ambition and disappointment, set in 1930s London, revolving around The Midnight Bell, a bar off the Euston Road. Then there is his colleague, Ella who is flattered by the love of a mature gentleman but also is in love with Bob. And finally there is Jenny...

When I first saw this trilogy of stories on BBC HD, I hadn't read, or even heard of Patrick Hamilton's book of which this is an adaptation. This is an excellent drama concerning three stories of unrequited love set in pre-war London. The atmosphere is realistic, the acting very good throughout and the stories are often quite moving. My favourite episode is 'Bob's Story' but each one has a lot to offer. The three stories cleverly overlap each other and show the different perpective's of each of the main characters. A word of note too about the music, by John Lunn which is haunting and adds a lot to the emotional impact of the stories.

Heart wrenching drama from the BBC.
