This is a kind of cute documentary where we follow Meg to the north of Thailand in the search of the sacred white elephant. The movie focus as much on elephants current situation in Thailand as is does on the truly amazing animal itself.

Asian Elephants, most famous for their work in the Teak forests of Thailand and Burma, now find themselves out of work as the trees are now a protected commodity.

Meg Ryan visits a sanctuary for the elephants and their Mahouts, and later goes in search of the famous white elephants in the forests of the north, visits a Buddhist temple to get her tree cloths blessed - any tree with one of the cloths tied around it is guaranteed not to be cut down.

Watching the interaction between the elephant families, and their protectiveness to their cute babies, and between the elephants and their mahouts, was the most fascinating part of this documentary for me.

The King of Thailand allowed Meg to visit the palace to see his famous white elephant, a magnificent creature with huge crossed tusks, apparently a very significant omen in their spiritual beliefs.
