I am a big fan of futurama and never understood why they took it off the air...so I was very pleased when I got the opportunity to watch this extended episode/movie. Unfortunately Benders BIg Score turned out to be rather low scoring. The stroyline is good, but it seems to me that it is just a normal episode that was streached into a movie. It is ok, but if you are a true fan don't get you hopes up too high.

Rated - 4 starsFan service at it's best

When Futurama was taken off the air, the cries of fans worldwide rung out like a mighty chorus. Usually such cries go unnoticed, but it seems that Futurama is being given a second chance with Bender's Big Score, the first in a planned SERIES of straight-to-DVD movies.

And the good news is, it's actually pretty good, for what it is. This movie is made for the fans of Futurama. The fans who have every episode memorized, can quote almost any section, and have Zap Brannigan's calendar hanging up on their bedroom wall.

The writers go out of their way to include as many characters as possible, to reference as many popular episodes from the past as possible and generally throwing all sorts of things in that will make hardcore fans go 'Yay!' when they see what is going on.

And, in a wonderful turn of events, this film is ACTUALLY FUNNY. It goes well above and beyond the meagre attempts of 'The Simpsons Movie' in every aspect of it's presentation, writing and humour.

It is a shame then, that the main plot twist in the film (Which I won't spoil here) is rather predictable. This does not detract enormously from this being a film you should watch, but it does hold it back from being classed as one of the greatest animated movies of all time.

The Futurama gang should be proud of what they've achieved, and anyone who really likes Futurama should give this a go. Even if only to convince the network executives to put it back on our small screens.

Rated - 1 starsPoor Follow Up to Excellent TV Series

A customer from Epsom , 20/04/2008

I am a big fan of the tv series but found the movie to be too long and very short on laughs. It seemed to me that the writers had just simply run out of good ideas. Some parts were positively cringeworthy. It was so bad I only managed to watch about three quarters then just gave up (contrast this with the tv series which I can watch again and again and it still makes me laugh). I have also cancelled my reservation for the follow up movie which is due out soon.

If you are not a fan of or have not seen the TV series then I would not bother with this movie. Many of the 'laughs' are tied to events in the TV series so they will go over your head.

If you are a fan of the TV series I suggest renting this movie first rather than buying it, so you can make up your own mind without parting with too much of your hard earned cash up front.

Only watch this film if you are a die hard futurama fan. It was utterly boring and not worth wasting any time on.
