Brief synopsis of Tales From The Darkside - The Movie

George Romero's (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD) popular television becomes a feature film, with some help from Stephen King and Michael McDowell (screenwriter of BEETLEJUICE), in the form of three chilling tales with a connecting story. In "Lot 249" is a college student (Christian Slater) is menaced by a mummy. "Cat From Hell" finds the millionaire owner of the titular feline hiring a hitman to kill the pet. Finally, in "Lover's Vow" an artist suffers severe retribution after taking a vow of silence after witnessing the murder of a friend.

A 3,000-year-old mummy, a malignant moggy and a gruesome gargoyle take their monstrous turns in a taut, tight and fun trio of terror tales drawn from the work of authors Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Stephen King, adapted by George Romero and Michael McDowell, the Beetle Juice co-writer. High on creepy atmosphere, low on boring exposition, this well-crafted movie version of its duff namesake TV series is an agreeably ambitious and solidly shocking outing. Watch out for Christian Slater in shorts, Debbie Harry as a housewife from hell and, especially, the jolting Cat from Hell episode!
