Brief synopsis of Stargate - The Ark Of Truth

This thrilling feature-length film picks up where SG1 left off, thrusting the Stargate team into their most exciting adventure yet. In search of an Ancient artifact they hope can defeat the oppressive Ori, the team learns that the Ori are set to launch a final assault on Earth and a double-crossing I.O. operative is aboard the Odyssey (This storyline, wraps up the primary storyline of season 9 and 10 of SG1).

Rated - 5 starsSuch a Shame...

Ok, this being the culmination of a series spanning 10 seasons (the longest running si-fi show ever!) i have to admit i was expecting a little more.

Don't get me wrong, it was everything we where promised, the Ori storyline is wrapped up neatly, there was the unexpected twist (replicators AGAIN!!) and the few loose ends will be tied up in continuum i am sure, but something just wasn't right. At a minimum it would have been nice to have an appearance from Jack/ R.D.A. but alas, it was not to be.

This is more than worth a watch for anyone who is, or ever was, a fan of Stargate SG1, but lets just hope the final installment offers a little more in the way of finality. There are so many issues in this show going back seasons that need resolving and questions that need answering (Jack & Sam, will they? wont they?), and they just don't bother with it in Ark of Truth.

But for now be happy, they done good again.

The new colonel is avery anoying and i think trys to me o niel but fails miserably- and as for vala well shes just way over the top and she tries to be cute but must be near 40?!

Anyway onto the episode- it is not a very good episode and yes it is a long episode not a film! I think it is a bit of a disaster and quite disapointing (this episode follows on where the last series left off). it was very cheesy and very american in the way the story went, i wish stargate was still like the early series with the gould and the replocators (although do they return) and i think they should stop before sg1 is ruined altogether!

So not a very good rent!

And from an avid stargate fan thats quite a statment

Rated - 1 starsA dissappointing way to end SG1 series

rubbishreview rubbishreview from Northwich [Highly rated reviewer] , 05/08/2008

After watching the final SG1 series 10 finale i was looking forward to this 'film' but a dissappointment is an understatement.

The film had a tired storyline which invoked some old plots and enemies which tbh was a diversion from the true potential that this film could have given. The Ori were considered to be the 'ultimate' enemy BUT they decided to take the storyline away from that massive plot and give us some feeble and previously beaten enemy.

It was obvious that the 'film' budget was blown on some special effects which no doubt were great but i would have preferred a more respectable ending to entire SG1 series by incorporating a better storyline involving good old allies and possibly enemies for a decentish 'all or nothing' finale rather than a very quick and convenient storyline.

Saying that is wasn't bad but don't go renting this believing it to be a 'film' which is expected to have a solid polish off, instead treat this as a double bill with a rushed ending.

A very sad way to end the SG1 series

Stargate-Ark of truth is the first of 2 SG1 TV movies that have been made, the other movie called 'continum' will be released later in the year.

Ark of truth basically wraps up the Ori stryline which dominated the last 2 years of the tv series,so if you didnt like the ori story, then you prob wont like this. I myself wasnt a huge fan of the ori, they were always a bit dull compared to the Gouald or Stargate-atlantis villians the wraith. Luckily this is the final arc of the story,so the story is finished at the end.

Dont expect a movie on the scale of a hollywood blockbuster..this is a bit more expensive than a 2 part story but it cant compare to a proper film. That being said the action is fairly fast and frenitic and there are some good fx sequences.

Worth renting for sure if your a fan but most fans are looking forward to 'continum' more as Rihard dean anderson is back as o'neill and the gouald return.

Started to watch this film then realised it wasn't what I thought. I have never watched the series of Stargate on sky so it was al ittle bit confusing. Watched the original film of stargate but this seems like it jumped centuries. Didn't continue to watch it.
