Frequently asked questions
What is "Switching"?
"Switching" means updating your LOVEFiLM login details to an Amazon account so you can continue using your existing subscription on Amazon.co.uk.
Do I need to have an Amazon account already?
No, you can create one during the switching process.
Even if you DO have an Amazon account, you can still create a new one if you don't want to switch your LOVEFiLM account to your existing Amazon details.
Should I just create a new subscription on Amazon Instant Video and ignore my old LOVEFiLM account?
No, it's strongly recommended that you switch your existing account. If you create a new account on Amazon Instant Video, you will still have an active LOVEFiLM account and may be charged for both.
What happens when I switch my LOVEFiLM account to an Amazon account?
After you switch, there will be no other steps required. All your LOVEFiLM account settings and history such as Watchlist and Rental list, watch and rental history, your registered devices and parental control settings will be instantly migrated to your Amazon account on Amazon Instant Video. You will be able to sign in on Amazon Instant Video using your Amazon details.
What if I have an Amazon Prime membership as well as my LOVEFiLM account

If I switch to Amazon account details, what happens to my connected devices?
The Amazon Instant Video application on your Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation®3, PlayStation®4, Wii, WiiU, iPad, Smart TV or Blu-ray player will recognise that you have switched your account details and continue to work seamlessly. You won't need to manually re-enter your new sign-in details once you have switched.
Will there be any changes to my monthly subscription charges?
If you are not also an Amazon Prime member, the amount you are charged each month will not change. However, there will be some changes on your bank statement:
- If you have the LOVEFiLM Instant service as part of your subscription, this will now be a Prime Instant Video subscription and you will see a monthly charge for 'Prime Instant Video'.
- If you have the LOVEFiLM By Post service as part of your subscription, this will be charged separately as 'LOVEFiLM By Post'.
So you'll have 2 separate charges if your membership includes both Prime Instant Video and By Post subscriptions.
If you are an existing Amazon Prime member, click here for more information about changes for LOVEFiLM & Amazon Prime customers at the point of switching.
Can I connect my LOVEFiLM account to more than one Amazon account?
You will not be able to share a LOVEFiLM subscription across multiple Amazon accounts. You need to pick one Amazon account through which to access LOVEFiLM, or you can create a new Amazon specifically to share your service with other users.
My partner & I have separate LOVEFiLM accounts, but share our Amazon account – can we link our Amazon account to more than one LOVEFiLM account?
It is not possible to share one Amazon Account between multiple LOVEFiLM subscriptions. You'll need to use, or create, a separate Amazon account to link to each LOVEFiLM account.
How do I switch?
Click here, and you'll be guided through the process online.
What happens if I don't switch?
You won't be able to use your subscription on Amazon.co.uk if you haven't switched your account. This will apply for streaming subscriptions as well as for By Post rentals - though you may still receive rental discs if you have titles on your list, you will not be able to make any changes to your rental list until you switch. You may still be charged for your subscription during this time.
If you haven't switched by a certain point, we will cancel your account completely. We will contact you to remind you to switch before this happens.
I don't want to switch. How do I cancel my LOVEFiLM account?
If you decide you do not wish to switch your account and would prefer to leave the LOVEFiLM service, we'll be sorry to see you go. Click here to cancel your LOVEFiLM account now.
Once you've cancelled your account, you won't be able to reactivate it. If you decide to come back, you'll need to sign up for a new account on Amazon.co.uk
